It's Been a While Since I Last Wrote Anything~
First, a quick disclaimer: I am simply sharing some personal thoughts here with absolutely no other intentions or hidden agendas.
It's been a really long time since I wrote anything. I took a train today. I noticed some deeply ingrained, rather unflattering traits in the collective mindset. Maybe it's because of our massive population, but I'm also pretty sure that in the near future, I will end up becoming just like them. Let me first describe what I saw. Due to train delays, multiple trips were pushed back, and everyone was getting extremely restless.(Speaking of which, I’d like to say a word or two about our railway system. Delays used to be rare, or at least I never encountered them so frequently. But nowadays, they are getting more and more common. I don’t know the insider details, but in my view, if you are running a railway to transport passengers, safety should be priority number one, and punctuality priority number two. If you can’t even get these two absolute basics right, how can you talk about providing a comfortable environment for travelers, let alone boast about staying ahead of the curve… I think you need to learn to walk before you try to run.)
Anyway, let’s move on. When the boarding announcement finally buzzed in the waiting room, I felt everyone around me instantly pressing and squeezing together. It was suffocating. That part was still manageable. After finally escaping from the ticket gate, a fast train pulled into the station, looking quite majestic. The train stopped, the doors opened, and before the arriving passengers could even set foot off the train, a massive crowd had already piled up around the doors. The very second the passengers finished stepping off, humanity’s long-suppressed wildness exploded. Everyone surged forward toward the door, amidst a chaos of shouting, cursing, and the desperate cries of women and children… Looking back closely at that moment now, I feel a deep, painful sense of the inherent flaws in our societal habits. What a harsh and sobering reality~
